Superintendent’s Message
As the season of gratitude surrounds us, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks to each of our Norton families for your partnership, dedication, and support of our schools. Together, we have created a nurturing and inspiring environment for our students to thrive both academically and personally.
This Thanksgiving, I am especially grateful for our incredible Norton students who bring energy, creativity, and curiosity into our classrooms each day. I am equally thankful for our teachers and staff who work tirelessly to guide, inspire, and uplift our learners. Their commitment to excellence and compassion make our schools a place where every child feels valued and supported.
To our families, thank you for entrusting us with the education and care of your children. Your involvement and collaboration are essential to the success of our school community. We appreciate the countless ways you contribute to making Norton Public Schools a special place.
From my family to yours, I wish you a happy and safe Thanksgiving. Thank you for being an integral part of our school community.

SEPAC Holiday Shop
The holidays are near, and as a special service, the Norton SEPAC is hosting a Lil' Shopper's Shoppe. Children will have the opportunity to pick out their own inexpensive, high-quality gifts for family and friends. The Lil' Shopper's Shoppe is a program designed to allow children to shop independently. They can learn valuable skills such as planning, budgeting, and decision-making, while experiencing the joy of giving. There are gifts available for all members of your family: mom, dad, brothers, sisters, grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, teachers, and even pets! Gifts are priced from approximately $0.25 to $15.00, with most between $3.00 to $8.00.

Celebrating Student Excellence
At the most recent School Committee meeting I had the privilege of recognizing five Norton High School seniors, presenting them with awards celebrating their achievements and leadership. Congratulations to these students!
- The Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents Academic Excellence Award was presented to Jacob Berry who has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement throughout high school, based on cumulative GPA, class rank, and Administrator recommendation.
- National School Development Council Academic Growth and Student Leadership Awards were presented to Zoe Santos and Nora Watras who have shown consistent academic effort and served as positive role models exemplifying admirable character and accomplishment.
- The Superintendent’s Award of Excellence is given to Maya O’Connell who has distinguished herself in her pursuit of academic excellence.
- Additionally, the high school proudly recognizes James Mackay as a National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist. This honor is awarded through the National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition identifying top-performing students nationwide based on PSAT/NMSQT scores.

MBTA Communities Multi-Family Initiative Community Event
The Town of Norton is hosting a community event to gather input from Norton residents on potential locations for a new zoning district that requires multi-family housing without special approval. This open house format allows you to drop in at your convenience, view maps, and share your ideas on where this district is preferable for multi-family housing.
This event is part of the Town’s effort to comply with the Commonwealth’s MBTA Communities Multi-Family Zoning requirement, which mandates the creation of a zoning district permitting multi-family housing by right. Following the recent decision to table this topic at the Fall Town Meeting, they are seeking community feedback to help identify the most preferable location(s) for this zoning district.
December 4, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 pm
This is an open house event, so feel free to stop by at any time during these hours.
