Welcome Back Lancers!

Welcome to the 2023 - 2024 school year! Earlier this week, Norton staff returned to work and have been busy with the final preparations to welcome our students back next week. As a reminder, the first days of school are:

  • Tuesday, September 5th for students in Grades 1-12

  • Wednesday, September 6th for Kindergarten

  • Thursday, September 7th for Little Lancers

As an educator, the beginning of the school year is always my favorite time of the year. It is filled with the promise of a clean slate, the opportunity to build new friendships, and to learn new things. I hope that your children are just as excited for the start of school and the possibilities that lay ahead!

It is going to be a great year for Lancer Nation!

Music Programming in Grades 4-8

We are pleased to announce that due to some staffing changes in the last few weeks, we were able to hire a 0.7 FTE music teacher for the H.A.Yelle school. Mr. Doug Dufresne will be providing general music classes to all students at the HAY along with instrumental lessons for students in Grade 5. With the hiring of Mr. Dufresne, Dr. Bianca will be working full time at Norton Middle School which preserves both the band and choral programs for grades 6-8.

I know many students and families were upset with the reduction in music last spring because of our budget challenges and I appreciate their advocacy for this program. As a district, we made our music department a priority for funding that became available this summer and I am very happy that we are able to make this work for our students. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out!
